Franz De Klotz was appointed to the CVWD Board in January 2010. Born in Oregon, he grew up in Fresno, California, and moved to the desert in 1983 after graduating from California State University Fresno with a Bachelor of Science degree in Plant Science/Viticulture. De Klotz is the Vice-President of Marketing for Richard Bagdasarian Inc. in Mecca, which specializes in citrus and table grapes. At Bagdasarian, he is responsible for global sales of all harvested products. In addition to his work at Bagdasarian, De Klotz also owns Pasha Marketing, a local agribusiness firm that grows and markets fresh vegetables on more than 600 acres in Mecca. De Klotz maintains close ties to the San Joaquin Valley where he was raised; he farms almonds and pistachios in Madera, California, and also is owner of De Klotz Capital Partners, an investment group handling real estate acquisitions in the San Joaquin Valley. De Klotz and wife Judy live with their three sons and daughter in Rancho Mirage.
My name is Franz De Klotz. As a long-time local businessperson involved with farming and marketing local produce, I am dedicated to ensuring a clean, safe and adequate water supply at reasonable rates for all Coachella Valley citizens. My interest in water management and community service dates back 27 years to when I graduated from Fresno State with a degree in Plant Science and more recently as your current Coachella Valley Water District Director for Division 1.
As an agricultural and residential water user, I understand the complexities of water stewardship. From employing water saving shade house technology in my business, to using a CVWD smart controller at home to maximize efficiency, my water knowledge is rooted in real life experience. This past year I have worked to foster strong community alliances through trust and respect while earning the support of leaders from Congress, the state legislature and local governments. Together we are working toward common-sense solutions to complex water recycling and conservation issues that ultimately ensure a strong economy and healthy environment.
With your vote, I will continue to enact responsible and professional policy that will provide for future generations in our valley. Thank you for your consideration.
